Dear Rusty,
Gosh, where to begin. First, Teresa and I would like to express our profound thanks for a “job well done” in the sale of her parent’s home of 70+ years in Rushville. We were so fortunate to secure your agency in the sale in no small measure due to the sale of a home and auction you handled a few years before of one of their closest friends in Rushville. You came highly recommended.
Teresa’s father, Otto, delegated the sale to us not because at the age of 93 he’s infirmed (quite the opposite) but because he was caring for an ailing wife. It was indeed a daunting task primarily because we did not really know what the housing market was like in Rushville and further how to empty a house that contained over 70 years of stuff.
From our first meeting by phone it was clear you were a man of integrity, honesty, and professionalism and most important you were the person to get it done. The first order of business was getting it listed, which you did quickly, but before you even put it on the market you called to say you had a potential buyer. My goodness!
You helped us to navigate every step in the early process beginning with establishing a fair and equitable asking price; communicating regularly with the potential buyer and with us; establishing benchmark dates including escrow, home inspection, power of attorney, notarizing documents, title company, wiring instructions, and various other items that came up. We knew no one in Rushville or where to turn but that didn’t matter, we had you and your contacts. Then there was the matter of scheduling and holding an auction. You clearly established how the auction would work and you were very encouraging. And then the pandemic hit. How does one plan for something like that?
This all took place during what was a nationwide lock down. However, you assured us that you and your associates would be practicing good social distancing and that we could and (most likely) would hit all the benchmark dates even with the lock down. This included holding a virtual auction, pick up of items, cleaning of the house, and sticking to the original closing date of May 8th It was your calmness and confidence that this all would come off as planned that was so reassuring. Amy and Tony organized the entire auction of hundreds of items. It was actually exciting to see it on line and we even bid on several of the items. They did an extraordinary job, and it all came off without a hitch, not a single hick-up during a historic time in history. You sold everything – 70 years worth – of hundreds of items inside the house. Then on May 8th you called to let us know the papers had been signed and the house had been sold.
Thank you Rusty. We would strongly recommend you to anyone considering selling their home or property including the items in their home. You understand the market, you are highly regarded in the community (that from everyone we spoke with in Rushville), and your follow through is exemplary. You treated us fairly and you were gracious with your time on the phone always responding promptly with any and all questions, and we had plenty. All-in-all it was one of the finest experiences we’ve ever had under extraordinary circumstances. Bravo!
