Land Lease Trends
Thursday, July 16th, 2009 by HaldermanIn May, the entire staff of the Halderman Companies gathered at our office in Wabash, Indiana to discuss current trends in farm management and real estate. The area representatives from around Indiana, Michigan and Ohio completed a questionnaire prior to the meeting and the following results were discussed:
- 47% said lease rates were up in 2009 while 53% said they were steady.
- When land was put on the open market rental rates increased $20 to $70 per acre.
- Cash leases continue to be dominant in our area
- 60% of our area managers implemented new flex leases, custom hire leases or some other blend in 2009.
With falling grain prices, lease rates may be under pressure for 2010. Contact the Halderman representative in your area for more information. To find your Halderman representative, please click here.
